At Lost Trail Ranch, we provide the
opportunity for our Guests to enjoy all the comforts of home in our comfortable Guest Cabins.
Each of our four main rental cabins is fully
furnished, with a well supplied kitchen, bathroom and comfortable bedrooms,
and lovely living/dining room. The cabins allow both great privacy and
incomparable views of the surrounding nature and wildlife. Modern facilities
and country decor in each of the hand crafted log cabins make for a
pleasurable environment for your mountain retreat.
Electricity is provided within each cabin from our own solar panels, and
running water from our underground spring is in each kitchen and bathroom. Wood stoves
in each cabin provide cozy warmth for chilly evenings. Remember that you’re
far from the stress and smog of the cities here – and far away from
telephone and television connection! (However, wireless internet
connection is available)
Check in time (for our summer guests) is between 3:00 p.m. and dark.
If you think you'll be running late, please e-mail us, and we'll leave a
light on for you, but please, no early birds. Check out
time is 10:00 a.m.
During the summer and autumn
months, horseback riding is available from right here at the Ranch, offering
guided trail rides into the Rio Grande National Forest and Weminuche
Wilderness. Fishing remains to be one of the main draws here at Lost
Trail Ranch and to this part of the headwaters of the Rio Grande. There is excellent access to great fishing both on and
near our Ranch.
During the winter months, winter
sports are available right at your front door! Guests snowmobile,
cross country ski or snowshoe in to the ranch from our parking at the Rio
Grande Reservoir Dam. From here, Guests may cross country ski,
snow shoe or snowmobile on our unlimited miles of trails, both groomed and
untouched.
Due to the high elevation at Lost
Trail Ranch, please be aware of altitude sickness, and dehydration. It
is very important for our Guests to drink more water than they usually do,
and be prepared to need a little more sleep and food up here! In
addition, you may find yourself a bit winded at first, as it takes a few
days to adjust to living at nearly 10,000 feet.
